Hola chicos! Ok, ok, this Hola things is finally starting to sound strange in my mind. As it makes me think about beaches and straw umbrellas and I am sitting here on the couch, at home, writing an article. At least if I was having a Mojito in my hand. But it`s 12 AM.? Damn, it`s too early for that.?
As promised, here I am with another blogging related title. And it is one that promises to be very kind and encouraging. I am constantly getting messages from people that would like to start blogging, vlogging or microblogging, but don`t know where to start, are indecisive and are constantly finding excuses to postpone it. This one is for you guys!
So in an attempt to push you to do it and do it faster, today I would like to talk a little about all the amazing benefits blogging can offer. Well, besides the very obvious ones, like:
And this includes attending awesome events where you get to meet very talented and inspiring people or receiving all these beautiful packages with notes inside. (those damn notes…those really make you feel very special?)
But I`m not going further into this one cause today I would like to talk about deeper things. Gains that are going to stay there no matter what. Like personal improvements that are crucial to your success in any industry out there. Of course this first benefit is not entirely superficial, as meeting other creatives can be very inspiring and enlightening. But the truth is I can`t wait to get to the most amazing gain of them all:
This is the biggest gain an occupation like this could get you. In the last 6 month I noticed a very big change is my approach towards connecting and sharing with the people I meet on social media and offline. I became more open, more natural, more friendly and respectful. And I think it`s all because my level of confidence went up.
If you would have told me one year ago `Listen, you are going to post no-make up photos, you are going to do stories and share your nonexistent singing and dancing skills with the world, you`re going to be at peace with your Russian English and your crooked nose.` I would have been like `Hell no, I am here to share the great visual content I can produce and that`s it.`
But things changed so much. And it`s also because I found so much kindness and encouragement in this industry.
So I got to a point where I`ve let my guard down and I could accept the fact that I am not perfect and I don`t need to be. Neither do I need to compare myself with others. Every single person in this online environment has it`s own things going, it`s own set of skills and own charm. And there`s most certainly room for everyone.
And the most important thing? I don`t need to be everyone’s cup of tea. It took me quite a while to understand that. No, I am not going to say I have ever been desperate to be liked by everyone cause I didn`t. Past experiences have taught me that we want to stay connected with the ones alike. And those friendships are much more likely to resist in time. ?
There is no greater feeling in the world than being your own boss and editor. There’s no-one to shoot down any of your ideas. You get to experiment, devise your own sleep-pattern, you get to have fun and be creative. Blogging is moving so quickly that you’ll have absolutely no idea what you’ll be doing next week let alone next year so there`s always more to learn and discover.
Plus, this very fast paced environment will only force you to become better, strive and find solutions to all your blogging related issues and get creative in every way possible.
Working in this industry and exercising creativity every single day will only get you to realize there is more inside of you than you think. As the creativity inside us only gets deeper and more beautiful over time.
A better and brighter attitude
As I was saying a little earlier doing this blogging/vlogging thing without real interactions with people it`s impossible. You`ll find yourself chating with complete strangers, responding to all sorts of questions and messages and interacting with brands representatives that are very demanding.
This not only makes you realize those numbers you see over there on Instagram are not just numbers. But real people that are following your work, which is truly humbling. It will help you get smarter and social skilled. You`ll learn how to talk to people, how to filter suggestions, how to approach different situations or handle sticky ones with professionalism and empathy. These are really important aptitudes that will contribute to your success in any industry out there and life in general.
And let me explain myself won the humbleness statement, cause I know it might sit strange in that sentence I`ve put it into. ?. You see, the people you interact with in this online environment will only make you realize how much talent and inspiration there still is to discover and how much kindness and generosity lives online. It really opens up a totally different perspective about this online world. ?
Maybe you got a little scared after reading my previous posts where I was talking about how much work is behind this blogging activity. But thrust me, the benefits you are getting out of it are invaluable. And besides confidence and social skills we could also talk a little about all the doors opening. That is not something to disregard for sure, as it will facilitate all these experiences and opportunities that will help you grow and that you would never have got otherwise.
I remember before I stared my blog I would always hear bloggers talking about how blessed they feel and how many amazing things are happening in their life and to be honest I was a little reticent. I mean I could see all these amazing things happening for them, but I thought the amount of joy is a little exacerbated just for the sake of attention. But that`s only because I forgot to take into consideration a very important factor: Pride.
Yes pride. Some people despise this word, but I actually think pride is something that we all need to take. It will push you to keep investing time, energy, and effort in your work. So you should always take pride in your work and achievements.
On an end note
I would like to share with you my biggest regret regarding my blogging career. It`s the fact that I didn`t start earlier. That has been eating me inside for so long and I am still not over it. I reached the point where I believe in this form of online entrepreneurship so much, I just feel all the years before this were completely wasted.
So this one is for the ones of you that would love to try blogging but are scared and indecisive. Do it! And do it as faster as you can. As it will only get harder and harder and it`s going to reach a level where it would be impossible to get in line with the others. Whether is blogging, vlogging or micro blogging you should do it now. So start posting and engaging.
For once in your life, you should allow yourself to get out of your comfort zone and be fearless by daring to do something different. Life will only take us as far as we allow ourselves to go.?
