Hi! As a girl who`s always rocking frizzy hair ?, when SHHH Silk asked me to try these gorgeous silk pillowcases I didn`t think twice. They`re marble printed so I couldn`t have said no anyway ?, but I`ve been dying to try them because I already knew that sleeping on a silk pillowcase has been a beauty weapon for decades. And today I want to share with you the benefits of doing so.
Apparently, silk is much better at keeping in moisture than cotton, and for someone who suffers from dry hair and skin this is totally a game changer. Silk will help your skin stay more hydrated and make your locks look healthy and shiny.
2. The lack of abrasion
Silk is known to cause less breakage of hair (which can cause split ends) because it is naturally a smoother surface. I guess they don’t call it “silky smooth” for nothing. I noticed there were far less tangles and flyaways in my hair and my skin got noticeably softer. I still got some flyaways when my hair is freshly washed but it`s been only 2 weeks since I started using the silk pillow case. The lack of abrasion is such a great benefit, as it also helped reduce my skin’s redness.
3. It`s naturally hypoallergenic
Some of silk’s hypoallergenic properties include a natural resistance to dust mites, fungus and mold, in addition to many other allergens. And you can expect a clearer, softer skin because silk doesn’t pick up as much pore-clogging bacteria as cotton does.
4. Say bye bye to sleep creases
I always sleep on the side and when I wake up I don’t have a single crease on my face. I`m not an anti-aging maniac, but I am very aware of the fact that sleep creases are like ironing wrinkles into the skin. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase can help your skin stay healthy and smooth and can help reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles.
5. The cooling effect
Studies have shown that keeping your room at a lower temperature while you`re sleeping encourages your body to release melatonin (one of the body’s most crucial anti-aging hormones) and the delicate luster of silk pillowcases will keep your face cool throughout the night. Perhaps it’s all in my head, but I felt like the silk’s cooling effect helped me wake up with a less puffy face.
I have to tell you that besides all the benefits I love how it feels to lay your head on luxurious silk. The conclusion is simple. You need a silk pillowcase in your life! ?
Have you tried silk pillowcases? What change did you notice first?
*My hair is freshly washed, it has not been styled and I haven`t applied oils or other similar products.
