Hey lovely people, here I am with a new blogging and social media related post. As you might have noticed, I am trying to discuss these subjects more often. After tons of messages regarding Instagram’s best practices, I figured it`s something you guys are very interested in. (You can see all the other blogging and social media related posts here.)
First let`s get it straight, I am not an expert! In fact I am not even close. ?But during these 2 years and a half since I started growing an Instagram account (now 25k), a Pinterest account (now 13k) and a blog, it is safe to say I gathered a little bit of knowledge in this area.
Today`s title has been waiting in my drafts section for quite a few months. To be more specific, I wanted to write this article since the new Instagram algorithm struck (something that has freaked out a lot of us). That`s when I stumbled across lots of comments and posts stating that we should all focus on our blogs and forget about social media. A huge nonsense if you ask me. Yes, social media can be pretty unpredictable and the blogs are our home. But as we all know, staying in a bubble has never set someone up to success. So without further ado, here are 5 reasons to invest more time in your social media channels:
1. Drive Traffic To Your Blog
If you`re not active on social media how in the world are you supposed to drive traffic to your blog? That`s the no.1 question. And why would you blog if you got no audience? I know social media it`s not necessarily the only way to drive traffic, but it`s the easiest way and it’s free. In order to create a successful blog and brand (cause you`re ultimately creating a brand) you have to be proactive and reach people where they are. And where are the majority of people? You guessed it right, social media. With Facebook gathering over 2 billion monthly active users and Instagram over 800 million, you can only imagine what you`d be missing out.
2. Be Found Easily
As a blogger your goal shouldn`t be limited to driving traffic to your blog. Your general purpose is to get people to know you and your activity. That`s why being found online easily is more important than your blog. Don`t forget that social media channels are also search engines themselves. Nowadays, people don’t just go to Google and Bing to look stuff up; they also use social media channels to find what they’re looking for. So pay attention to the words you`re using in your bio, your hashtags and make sure you post quality content to make a great first impression.
Another trick is to find your people by yourself. I actually do this quite a lot; I follow people and like their pictures in order to attract them to my account. I could say this a million times : Social media is very hard work and organic growth has become more of a myth.
3. Stay Connected To Your Community
It has been predicted that social media would replace blogging because of declining attention spans. There have been numerous studies showing that people are starting to lose their patience. Nowadays they`re getting all the entertainment and information straight on their social media channels. So that`s where you need to be in order to get an audience.
❗The future of this industry is pretty uncertain. So don`t keep your eggs in one basket.
4. Use Social Media To Build Brand Authority
I am referring to the perceived expertise within an industry or topic. Having multiple results turn out when someone is googling your blog name, will surely help out with building online authority. And so is being noticed on multiple social media platforms. Plus, social media websites will always get at the top of google search results, thus gaining you popularity and trustworthiness. So go ahead and build a couple of social media accounts. I am not saying you should be active on every single platform out there. (Unless you`re getting help it`s pretty much impossible.) But rather to figure out what platforms are more important within your niche and focus on those.
5. Connect With Brands
Let`s not forget most of the brands will also find you on social media. And the first thing they`ll care about will be the quality of your social profiles. (content quality, engagement rate and number of followers). So if you guys want to be found among the millions of sites on the web (there are 571 new websites being created each minute ?), you`re going to have to up your social game.
Speaking of brands and social media, this is how I connected with Remi and Reid. The brand that creates these stunning crossbody bags (like the one I am wearing in this post). Isn`t it superb? And the best part is that it`s got a pouch and a wristlet strap inside. So you can wear it as a wristlet also. Pretty cool! Now that I saw how gorgeous it looks in real life, I need a red one also.☺
I am wearing Zara turtleneck sweater and skirt | Mango shirt | H&M trench | Flying tiger eyewear | Remi and Reid crossbody bag and Gianna Meliani boots.
